At Clay Street Center, our members have choices.  We offer enjoyable programs throughout the day.  Our state-of-the-art classroom allows for life-long learning, creative arts, travelogues, and more.  Our fitness room is perfect for exercise activities and dance.  We have a library with comfortable lounge chairs that are great for relaxing or a mid day nap.  The spacious dining room provides a great space for coffee, games, music, and companionship.  We also have a garden that provides the opportunity to dig in the dirt or just sit peacefully and admire the beauty.

Bus with Wheelchair Lift

Clay Street Center is able to offer transportation as needed for picking up or dropping off members. With the wheelchair lift, we are equipped to handle and accommodate nearly all mobility levels.

Group outings are scheduled at least once a month. We've been to Frederik Meijer Gardens, Klackle's Orchard, Greenville Library, Greenville Movie Theater, and the Fighting Falcon Museum, to name a few.

Health and Wellness

Clay Street Center has an on-site Nurse Director, with over 30 years of experience.  A health assessment is performed initially and every six months.  Vital signs and weights are taken monthly or more.  Our nurse administers medications, monitors chronic health conditions, and develops personalized care plans for each member.

Personal Hygiene

Assistance with toileting and personal hygiene is provided as needed. We have a barber station for hair care and shaving.  Our handicap accessible bathroom and walk in shower, funded by a generous grant from GACF, allows us to provide bathing services.  We are available to assist older adults in our community with showering, by appointment.

Showers are $20.00 for Clay Street Center members

$30.00 for members of the community

The Dining Room

The dining room is a place for games, puzzles and socializing, as well as eating delicious meals.  It offers a spacious area for activities, and the opportunity to make new friends with other members, guests, students and volunteers.

We have a Library Lady who visits weekly and introduces us to wonderful books.  We often have musicians and vocalists who share their talents with us.  Interacting with others and having fun are part of every day at Clay Street Center.

Life Long Learning

Thanks to a generous grant from Greenville Area Community Foundation (GACF), Clay Street Center has a classroom for daily programs and enrichment opportunities. Memory stimulation, educational and interactive activities help keep people engaged and interested in the world around them. Partnering with educators and other community members provides meaningful new experiences on a variety of interesting topics, including art, music and travel.

Additionally, caregiver education is provided regularly.

Physical Exercise

Our members exercise every day to improve strength, balance, and well-being.  Group exercise classes, a stationary bike, a walking track, and dance instruction are just a sampling of the physical activities offered. Members also enjoy walks outside on the Flat River Trail, weather permitting.  Research shows that increased physical wellness reduces falls, decreases stress, and improves one's general outlook.

Lunch and Snacks

The large kitchen allows for on-site preparation of a nutritious lunch and two snacks which are served daily. Our members say "The food is delicious!"  Socialization is enjoyed during the meal.  We have fun celebrating birthdays, holidays and any other memorable occasion with a party and special dessert.

A Cozy Corner

We have two rooms that offer a cozy place for reading and relaxing.  There are a variety of books and magazines that our members can enjoy.  This also makes a great space for an afternoon nap or some quiet time.
